Color Lens Filters How to use (color) C-mount lens filters? The use of (color) C-mount lens filters is to be able to create contrast between colored parts of an object with a monochrome camera to easily detect and measure the specific part of the object. Additionally (color)C-mount lens filters are used to block external-environmental lighting. Why monochrome camera and not color? Because monochrome cameras  are up to 3 times more light sensitive and produce sharper images. (Color)C-mount lens filters can be applied to camera lenses without significant loss of light or image quality. Color lens filter principle Using a Color lens filter to add contrast works on subtraction idea. For this example we take a red bottle cap with red lens filter. The red Lens filters does not brighten up the cap. Instead, the complementary colors and the colors...

How to synchronize industrial machine vision cameras? To synchronize industrial machine vision cameras the I/O port of the industrial camera is required. A master camera will hardware trigger it’s slave cameras to assure perfect synchronization between all cameras. In this example we explain how to connect 1 master camera to 3 slave cameras. As a result the setup will have 4 industrial cameras perfect synchronized. Technical schematic of a synchronized camera setup: The schematic below shows how to trigger 3 slave cameras from 1 master camera. An external power supply is always required. The external power supply voltage range should be between 5 and 24V. In our example we will use a 12V external power supply for the synchronized camera setup. The power Line 1 output can withstand 25 mA max. A Line 0 input(s) needs 7mA...

Product life cycle of industrial cameras

  Technical support     07-05-2020     Kommentare (0)

Product life cycle of industrial cameras All our industrial cameras have a minimum life cycle of 7 years after market introduction. The graph below shows the typical product life cycle stages of an industrial camera. Market introduction of an industrial camera When a camera is released it has the latest generation sensor. In almost all cases the latest generation sensor is more light senstive and has less noise than previous generation sensors. Therefore a better image quality can be achieved. Check for newer alternatives After 3-7 years, sensor manufacturers will release a new version of the sensor or a sensor from a different brand might have better imaging performance. Therefore during this period it's important to check if there are other camera types available that have a newer image sensor. EOL Notification Unfortunately cameras do go End of Life (EOL)....

Connecting multiple GigE cameras to one ethernet port How do I connect multiple GigE industrial cameras to a single network port? We will explain how to connect 4 industrial GigE cameras. Therefore we have used the following material: 4x MER-630-16GC-P, 6.3MP industrial GigE camera 5 Port PoE switch 1000mbit / 1Gbit PC with windows 10 and a 1000mbit / 1Gbit networkcard Please double check that your connection is 1000mbit / 1Gbit and not 100mbit. Some PoE switches are only 100mbit and we see more often that customer think they have 1Gbit connection but in reality they have a 100mbit connection. This article explains how you can check if you have a 1 Gbit connection. You can only check this when the industrial GigE camera is connected. Step 1,  connect all GigE cameras to the PoE switch Connect the GigE cameras to the PoE switch and check if the LED on the back of...

How to install Rasperry Pi with Daheng Imaging USB3 Machine Vision Camera

  Technical Support     21-08-2019     Kommentare (3)

How to install Rasperry Pi with Daheng Imaging USB3 Machine Vision Camera How to install Raspberry Pi C++ and Python SDK for industrial vision cameras? In this article we will show video tutorials on how to install the Daheng Imaging Python and C++ SDK on a Raspberry Pi. All required drivers can be found in the download section of our website. Our GigE and USB3 industrial vision cameras do work with a raspberry pi. We have even tested multiple 5MP, 10MP, 18MP and 20 Megapixel industrial vision cameras on a single Raspberry Pi. Please note that a Raspberry Pi3 has only a USB2 an 100mbit ethernet port. Therefore the frame-rate will be lower. The Raspberry Pi4 has a USB3 and GigE port. On the Raspberry Pi 4, the USB3 port can achieve a maximum of 300mbit. This means that a 20MP industrial vision camera can run at max 15fps. Quickstart, 5 steps to trigger LED from Vision Camera using strobe controller How to connect and trigger a LED light source with a machine vision camera from Daheng Imaging using an industrial strobe controller . We have explained it in 5 simple steps. This is applicable to both USB3 and GigE machine vision cameras that have a trigger output. As additional hardware we have used a 12V powersupply, a Power LED and a triggerable industrial strobe controller, the ACC-MV-LED-STROBECONTROLLER-V1 . Step 1: Program the triggerable industrial strobe controller We are using in our example an ACC-MV-LED-STROBECONTROLLER-V1 industrial strobe controller that can be triggered. A nice feature of this strobe controller is that you can program it, using the dipswitches, without the need of connecting the strobe controller to a pc. Most industrial strobe controllers can be triggered and have at least 4...

Industrial Polarized Camera Daheng Imaging is dipping their toes in the industrial polarized camera segment by implementing the Sony-IMX250MZR monochrome image-sensor . The Industrial polarization camera systems are able to capture information which a normal line or area industrial camera is not able to obtain. A polarization camera conducts a two-dimensional analysis. It measures both the degree and direction of the polarization of the light. As a result the final image has almost none reflections from external lightsources. A polarized camera is ideal for applications like the inspection of glossy products and transparent products.   Standard machine vision camera versus polarized camera The following examples show on the left hand side an image captured with a standard machine vision camera and on the right...

How the European Vision camera market got disrupted

Vision Camera Specialist     06-10-2018     Kommentare (0)

How the European Vision camera market got disrupted Many years the European camera manufacturers dominated the machine vision camera market worldwide. Time is changing and Chinese camera manufacturers are entering the European market. Only a few Chinese camera manufacturers, like Daheng Imaging , can offer high quality products for a low price. European vision camera manufacturers can’t compete on price because the Chinese camera manufacturer have the following competitive advantages: No overhead features. Most Chinese vision cameras have standard features like exposure, gain, white balance control, etc, but no advanced features like pixel binning and skipping. By reducing the amount of advanced features, less development time and less expensive FPGA's (Hardware) is needed. This results in lower cost price per camera Scale of Economy. China is the largest...
